Jocelyn Rose

Jocelyn Rose has made her grand appearance! She was born on December 28th at 10:05 pm and weighed 6 lbs 14 ounces and was 19 inches long. She really is a little miracle.......

Chris and I headed to the hospital on Monday evening around 4:30 pm to have her as I was having contractions. The contractions were getting stronger and closer together when I was admitted but I was not dilating past 2cm for the couple of hours we were there. The hospital discharged us at around 8 pm and said to come back when I had been having contractions every 3-4 minutes for 2 hours. We made it home and the contractions strengthened. Little Jocelyn didn't give us 2 hours. It's all really a blur what happened next but I do know that Chris was amazing. He kicked right into Dr. Huth and delivered our little girl in the bathroom. It was quite scary but we did it. My mom held my head and Chris took care of the rest with his sterile esurgery pack and all:) Abby stayed sound asleep in her room through it all (I guess she likes her big girl bed). The paramedics and fire dept arrived about 5-10 after she was born. They transported us back to the hospital to check us out.

When we arrived at the hospital everything appeared OK. Chris stayed with me and Jocelyn until about 2:00 am. Hospital policy was then that he needed to go home. (Not a good thing for a mama and daddy who had just done what we did). A couple of hours later the nurse heard a heart murmur. Chris headed back to the hospital to be with us. The pediatrician met with us and explained that they suspected Jocelyn has downs syndrome and some heart complications. She would be transferring her to Children's hospital in San Diego. The children's hospital transport team came and picked her up at 7:00 am and she went for another ambulance ride. I was discharged at the same time.

Chris and I arrived at Children's and more issues seemed to be mounting each hour. We have been checking these things off each day. The heart murmur went away and further testing shows that there are no major heart issues. The downs syndrome gene test came back positive. Right now we are waiting for an answer on her digestive tract. She has not gotten to nurse yet and has been on all IV fluids for nutrition. Hopefully today we will get this issue figured out and we can start trying to feed her.

Jocelyn is a real trooper. She has been through so much in her first few days and her spirits have remained good. She loves that she can now be swaddled and really likes her baba just like her big sister.

Chris and I are doing OK. This has all been quite traumatic and is a lot to try and swallow. Childrens has put us in contact with amazing doctors that have already answered so many questions. We know that little Jocelyn will make us stronger but will also challenge us to be exceptional parents.

Thank you to everyone for the calls, texts, prayers and well wishes. Abby is being cared for by family. She is having a great time and make daily visits down to see us. Right now there is not much we need but please know that little Jocelyn is going to need a lot of love from all of you.

I will try to update the blog with pics or news on her progress. We hope you can all meet her soon:)

Love to you all,
Becca and Chris

What a fun couple of days that we have had. On Christmas eve we went to Grandma Liz's house for a very yummy brunch. Abby loves going to her house! Then it was off to Tiffani's house for a wonderful dinner. She made an incredible spread. Abby loved getting to see Aunt Nicole. On the way home abby says, "Daddy, I had a great day!". Pretty cute kid! We got home and put out a letter, cookies mild and carrots. She was really into the santa thing! It was an early wake up to come and check on her cookies and milk. She loved all her presents. Especially the cookie monster towel that she asked santa for:) BaPooh, Grandma T, Mr. Ed, Papa, Uncle Joey and Grandma Liz came for a Christmas visit. We went for an afternoon ride on Barbie the pony (that lives next door). Papa and Daddy made a wonderful steak dinner for us. And now Abby asleep in bed. The house is picked up (kind of) and I am feeling a little more ready to have a baby! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve

Abby LOVES Santa!

Santa made a visit to our house the other night. Abby and her friends were all so excited:) Abby was a little scared at first but then couldn't contain the excitement. There was lots of jumping up and down. We have been talking about Santa a lot lately. She wakes up each morning and asks if Santa is here. Abby sure does love Santa Claus. We hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas:)
Love,

Dr. Abby Huth

Chris had a goat come into the hospital the other night with a broken leg. Abby LOVES goats and LOVES helping her Daddy, Dr. Huth (what she calls him when he is fixing animals). Chris and I had walked out of the pen for a minute leaving all the bandaging materials laying next to the goat. When we came back Abby says, "Daddy, I fixed it, Daddy, I fixed it!" She was SOOO proud of herself. She had unrolled all the wraps and layed it all over the goat. I think she might be following in her daddy's footsteps.....

Baby Shower

Thanks a lot Aunt Susie for teaching Abby how to put on lipstick!

I had such a wonderful baby shower last weekend. It was a cold rainy day so everyone sat around in our family room with a fire in the fireplace. Tate and Flora provided a yummy brunch and everything else for the shower. It was PERFECT. Baby girl and I got many nice things. We are getting so excited to meet her in just a couple of weeks (or sooner). Thank you again to everyone who made it a special day. Both baby and I feel very loved.

Abby LOVES Aunt Diane:)

She loves Lauren too:) Thanks for all the band aids and purse goodies Lauren!

We had such a fun trip to Vegas. Chris was attending the American Association of Equine Practitioners Conference (and having some fun). Abby and I went along to visit friends and relax. We stayed with Aunt Diane the first night. Abby loved her cats, Homer and Harley. I don't know how much they liked Abby! It was great to get to spend some time with Aunt Diane. Then it was off to the Mandalay Bay Hotel for the conference (and fun). Uncle Joey came each night and watched Abby while Chris and I went out with friends. We went out to a couple nice dinners and got to go to the NFR one night. Thank you very much to Uncle Joey for playing so much with Abby. We are still hearing about the sharks at the Mandalay Bay and painting. A great little get away before Baby Girl #2 arrives in less than 3 weeks (I hope)!

Fishing on the Kern

We had a great weekend flyfishing on the Kern River with BahPooh and Maggie. Abby saw Chris walking out into the river with his waders and asked where his boat was. I got to do some scrapbooking and Chris got some much needed time out on the water. Yes, they even caught some fish:)
